Greetings friends,
This past year has been challenging for so many of us and in so many ways. Through it all, thanks to your generosity, Camp Unity Eastside has continued to provide safe shelter for people experiencing homelessness. Your kindness has blessed Camp Unity beyond measure, including with meals and other food, supplies and equipment, financial support, host sites and more. Because of your support, 13 people were able to move from Camp Unity to housing this year.
In mid-December, Camp Unity Eastside will move from Northshore United Church of Christ to Kirkland Congregational Church. We are so grateful to both of these very caring and generous hosts. Read on for more updates and information about needs.
Welcome Audrey: We are excited to announce that CUE has brought on a high school intern named Audrey. Audrey has been serving meals at CUE with her family since she was in elementary school and is elated to be taking her service a step further with our organization. She is especially passionate about community service, having spent her high school years volunteering with her church and a local counseling service.
Audrey is interested in studying business management in her higher education and looks forward to contributing her International Baccalaureate studies during her internship period. Since September, she has been helping with social media content and several outreach initiatives. We are ecstatic that Audrey is blessing Camp Unity with her passion for helping people, excellent and diverse range of skills, and impressive community service experience.
Move: Camp Unity will begin its move to Kirkland Congregational Church on December 17th and it will likely take until the 20th or 21st to complete. A big thank you to our gracious volunteers and generous local restaurants, MOD Pizza at Totem Lake and Rocky’s Empanadas in Redmond, who are providing residents with lunches and dinners during most of the days of the move.
Meals: We especially need help to fill a couple remaining meal gaps during the move: dinner on Friday, 12/18 and dinner on Sunday, 12/20. The camp would also welcome a warm breakfast on Friday 12/18; Saturday 12/19; or Sunday 12/20. Looking ahead, we need help to fill meal gaps in January. If you can help by dropping off a meal, please sign up via CUE’s meal calendar https://campunityeastside.com/meals-2/meal-calendar/ and note which meal you’d like to bring. There are 15 residents at Camp Unity and during the past month, one person has moved to housing. Thank you to everyone who has signed up already!
Supply Needs: We will post updates regarding supply needs after the camp’s move. Check back to https://campunityeastside.com/camp-essential-needs/.
Financial Gift: If you would prefer to help with Camp Unity’s needs from home, consider using our secure link to make a financial donation: https://donorbox.org/campunity. We are grateful for every gift! Your support helps ensure that Camp Unity can continue to provide shelter for people in need until they can regain housing. Do you have an employee giving program at work? You may be able to increase the impact of your gift through an employer match.
Thank you for your generosity and care for the men and women at Camp Unity Eastside. We hope that your holiday season is filled with joy, health and peace.
