Please join us for our 2020 GiveBIG campaign! Early giving started on April 15.

Your gift during GiveBIG is essential so that people who are struggling can find shelter and support at Camp Unity Eastside. Your donation allows Camp Unity to continue to be a place where residents have a secure location to rest, can take showers, wash and dry their clothes, and regain stability in their lives.

Our goal is to raise $11,000 through the GiveBIG campaign.   This funding is needed for essential services: portable toilets, waste management, operation and insurance for the camp vehicle, and camp moves.  We will also continue to replace worn out tents, add tents as needed and repair portions of the van and shower that have worn out.

Camp Unity is a fully volunteer organization. Our operating cost is just $5.70 per day per resident for these essential services. Expressed another way, it costs just $1,000 per week to provide safe and supportive shelter for all the people at Camp Unity who would otherwise be struggling on their own.

Please make your gift starting on April 15 for our 2020 GiveBIG campaign as we raise the funds to keep the camp running.

Why is Camp Unity Important?

If I became ill or disabled, lost my job or spouse, or experienced abuse, what would I do? Or what if my housing became unaffordable? Just one of these significant life events can result in a person losing their home. Where then to stay, especially if there are no friends or family to live with?

Camp Unity Eastside is a safe shelter for homeless adults in a community setting while they are working to obtain housing. Each resident is a responsible and active part of keeping the camp running. The camp maintains a code of conduct, including no drugs or alcohol.

Camp Unity provides hot showers, warm meals, and a dry and secure place to stay so homeless adults can regain stability and begin to take the steps for a fresh start. The camp includes community tents (dining, kitchen, donations, and office), individual tents, portable toilets, waste management, hot showers, washer/dryer, and a camp van used to provide transportation for residents for medical needs, appointments, work and other destinations. Faith communities and other hosts provide a location for camp consistent with local regulations (typically up to 120 days per stay). Generous volunteers and donors provide meals and supplies for residents.

Your financial gift will make a difference in the lives of people who are struggling and alone. Your generosity helps provide those in need a safe alternative to sleeping outside on a bench, in their vehicle, in the woods or under a bridge each night and trying to function the next day.

Make your gift for our 2020 GiveBIG campaign as we raise the funds essential to keep camp running. GiveBIG is a community-driven effort for hundreds of non-profits that is taking place from April 15th to May 6th. We are extremely grateful for your generosity… thank you!
